Students will plan a trip in the state of _________ using pamphlets and
travel guides.
You have $650.00 to spend on your trip.
You may spend less, but under no circumstances may you go over
budget. This project must meet the
following requirements:
-
You must stay overnight a
minimum of two nights. You may stay
in a hotel, cabin, or at a campground.
You must research and determine the actual price for accommodations
including tax. You may use the
Internet, toll-free telephone numbers or price lists in brochures to do so.
-
During your vacation you must
plan at least 3 or 4 activities per day.
These may include but are not limited to local tourist attractions,
shopping, swimming, etc.
-
You must show the travel route
you plan to follow the reach your destinations. Using an ________state map plot which roads to take and
figure out how many miles it is from your home and how long it will take to
get there. Your vehicle gets twenty
(20) miles per gallon and you must estimate the cost of gas from destination
to destination. Fuel may be figured
at $1.00 per gallon.
-
You must document where you will
eat your meals each day, planning three meals per day. You may want to eat at fast food
restaurants or there may be a more expensive restaurant you may want to
try. Be sure to keep track of the
approximate cost of each meal. Many
of the brochures include menus along with prices.
You will turn in a written report to include the following:
-
A complete budget accounting for
every cent of the $650.00. This
includes overnight accommodations, fuel, food, entertainment, shopping,
etc. Expenditures must be
documented in detail. (ex. McDonald's lunch=$5.00)

4 POINTS: The report shows accurate and detailed
records of all expenditures. All
requirements for travel, accommodations, meals, etc. have been met. The map has been labeled clearly and the
planned route can be easily followed.
Over $600.00 of the original $650.00 has been spent and the entire
amount has been accounted for.
3 POINTS: The report is detailed
and the budget is accurate. The
report is easy to follow, but contains gaps in time and/or does not show
expenditures of over $600.00. May
also have minimal spelling or typographical errors.
2 POINTS: The report is missing
necessary information to form a clear picture of the budget or
itinerary. There may be errors in
mechanics and grammar or gaps in time.
The budget does not balance to the $650.00 requirement.
1 POINT: Documentation is not
detailed enough to follow itinerary or determine expenditures. Details are inaccurate or
incomplete. Grammar, punctuation
and spelling do not meet business standards.
