Performance Task:
|
|
|
This task requires you to investigate what happens
to a raisin when it is placed in a beaker of water for an extended period of time. Perform the task or laboratory experiment with one
other student in the class. Get a raisin from your teacher and observe its size and shape before beginning
the experiment. Write your observation in your science notebook. Make a hypothesis of what you think will happen
to the raisin. Place the raisin in the water and keep it there overnight. Conduct the experiment, make
observations, and compare the results of the inquiry to your hypothesis. Write a brief explanation of what you did to
conduct the experiment. Include a list of materials used. Give a good scientific explanation, using proper
scientific vocabulary, of the results of your experiment. If you were to repeat the experiment, what, if anything, might
you change.

The following
criteria will be used in assessing your performance of this scientific
inquiry. Rate each criteria from 4 to 1, where:
4 = exceeds expectations
3 = meets expectations satisfactorily
2 = meets expectations adequately, but has some weaknesses
1 = below expectation
