After years of working for other people on their schedule and making money for them instead of for yourself in an automotive repair shop, you decide to go into business for yourself.  Now you knew it would be a big undertaking and a lot of responsibility, but you decided it was easily worth the risk.  Given a set budget, you begin the task of getting your business up and running.

  • Find a location for your shop.  Draw up a floor plan that includes all dimensions and organization of your shop.

  • Create a tool list of the basic tools you need to operate the business.

  • Calculate all start-up cost involved and inquire about obtaining a bank loan.

  • Determine employees needed and salaries. (Don't forget to pay yourself.)

  • Estimate monthly expenses.

  • Present your business venture to a loan board.  (Loan board can be a student and/or teachers, or business people.)
