Performance Task:

Students will investigate solid waste management
and its impact on their community/region and make recommendations for the future.
Working in small groups, students will select an area of solid waste
management, e.g., sanitary landfills, recycling practices, mass burn plants, reuse of products, reduction of
waste.
Each group will research positive and negative aspects of the topic and its impact on the region. A
written report and class presentation will be required. Each group must also develop a model of its recommendations
for the future in the form of drawings, a physical model, or a detailed implementation plan, for example.
