Performance Task:

 

 

John Roberts is single and is a student at Central High School. He works at "Super Copy Station". He saves his money for college at the 1st National Bank and must file a tax return.

Please help him use the following information and forms. 

You will need to locate a 1040EZ and a Tax Booklet. His parents can and will claim him on their tax return. He wants $3 to go to the Presidential Election Campaign fund. His wages are $2750.13. The amount of federal income tax withheld was $188.15. His interest income was $45.84.

Note to teacher: You may wish to have the students do their own taxes or contact your local IRS Taxpayer Educational Coordinator for more information.

4 POINTS: The student independently accomplishes the complete task. He/she demonstrates complete understanding of the responsibility and honesty needed to be an upstanding citizen. The student's work is well organized, neat, and free of errors.

 

 

3 POINTS: The student needs coaching on where to find materials and locate information. He/she has some difficulty describing the responsibility and honesty needed to be an upstanding citizen. The student's work is fairly well organized, relatively neat, and contains no major errors.

 

 

2 POINTS: The student needs coaching throughout the entire task. He/she has minimal knowledge of the responsibility and honesty needed to be an upstanding citizen. The student's work has errors based on inaccurate information and it is not as neat as it should be.

 

 

1 POINT: The student is unable to complete task. He/she accomplishes only a small portion of the task. The student has minimal knowledge of the responsibility and honesty needed to be an upstanding citizen. The student does not obtain materials needed. His/her work is poorly organized, contains computational errors and errors based on inaccurate information.
