Performance Task:

 

 

As part of a school-to-work assignment, you are to determine what cost of living is likely to be in 10 years.  Using print and electronic reference sources, develop a fact sheet on employment predictions about men & women in 10 years.  Also develop a fact sheet on cost of living predictions and analyze the relationship of the two.  Using print and electronic resources, find a model budget.   Choose a reasonable salary range for an occupation in which you are interested and construct an annual and monthly budget for yourself.  

 

 

 

Knowledge / Skills:

 

 

Perform operations with signed (positive and negative) numbers, including decimals, ratios, percents, and fractions.   M.1

Understand the best procedures for statistical data collection, organization, and display.  M.5

Gather information from a variety of sources, including electronic sources, and summarize, analyze, and evaluate its use for a report.  ELA.3

 

 

 

Rubric:

 

 

4 POINTS = The student completes the entire task without assistance. The student demonstrates the ability to work independently. The quality of the work demonstrates a thorough research effort.

 

 

3 POINTS = The student needed some assistance to complete the entire task. The quality of the work demonstrates a good research effort.

 

 

2 POINTS =Even with assistance, the student did not complete the task. The quality of the work does not demonstrate good research skills.

 

 

1   POINT = Student completes half of the task. Student shows little understanding of the research process.

 

 

0 POINTS =  The student fails to do any part of the task. No research skills are evident and little effort for the task.
