Performance Task:

 

 

You are going on a vacation to a destination of your choice.  Your teacher will give you an exact  amount of money to spend.  Determine your budget for gas, lodging, food, sight seeing and any miscellaneous expenses.

Students will:

  • Make a realistic budget by researching actual costs.

  • Use the computer to make a pie chart showing the percentage of money spent for each area.

  • Use the computer to make a bar graph showing a comparison of expenses in each area.

  • Orally present the information and results found.

 

 

 

Knowledge / Skills:

 

 

Perform operations with signed (positive and negative) numbers, including decimals, ratios, percents, and fractions.   M.1

Understand the best procedures for statistical data collection, organization, and display.  M.5

Gather information from a variety of sources, including electronic sources, and summarize, analyze, and evaluate its use for a report.  ELA.3

Prepare and deliver individual speeches by gathering information, rehearsing, making eye contact, speaking loudly enough, delivering information in a well-organized fashion, and appealing to the needs of the target audience.  ELA.10
